Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the amount of apically extruded debris with different reciprocating nickel titanium (NiTi) file systems. Material and Methods: For this study, 80 teeth with single root and single canal structure were used and the teeth were divided into 4 main groups (n:20). The teeth were prepared with WaveOne Gold (WOG) in the first group, One RECI (OR) in the second group, T-Endo Must (TEM) in the third group and using hand files in the fourth group. Apically extruded debris from the prepared teeth was collected in eppendorf tubes, which were weighed on precision scales, and kept at 37 °C for 14 days to evaporate the water in the tube. The remaining debris was measured on a precision scale. The amount of extruded debris was measured by subtracting from the previously measured empty weight of the tube. Intergroup analysis of extruded debris was performed using the Mann-Whitney U test. Significance level was accepted as P<0.05. Results: Among all groups, uttermost extruded debris was acquired in Group 4, which was prepared using hand files. The TEM file in Group 3 extruded statistically more debris than the WOG and OR files in Group 1 and Group 2 (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between WOG and OR files in Group 1 and Group 2 (p>0.05). Conclusion: All file systems extruded debris during preparation. The least extrusion of debris was observed in the OR file in Group 2 in all groups. Keywords: debris extrusion, Niti file, reciprocating motion
