Abstract (EN)
Aim: This in vitro study was conducted to investigate the effect of different thermal cycle application on the microleakage of a fiber post cemented with different cements. Material and Method: In the study, 60 maxillary central teeth extracted due to periodontal problems and trauma were used. The teeth were expanded by crown-down technique and then filled with lateral condensation technique. The roots prepared with standard post preparation were divided into three groups as 20 specimens in each group and cemented with Variolink II Professional Pack, Panavia SA Cement and Meron cement. The samples were divided into four subgroups (N = 5). Thermal cycling was not applied to group 1 (control group), 1000 cycles were applied to group two samples, 5000 cycles were applied to group three samples, and thermal cycling (5-55ºC) was applied 10000 times to group four samples. Three sections were taken horizontally (Cervical, Middle, Apical) from the samples kept in the methylene blue solution for 24 hours and sections were examined under a stereo microscope at 12 magnification. The data were evaluated statistically. Results: It was found that the use of the thermal cycle, the number of cement-cycles, the number of region-cycles, the number of cement-regions-cycles were significant (p<.001), but cement-zone interaction was not statistically significant (p> .05). Conclusion: Self adhesive cement (Panavia Sa) showed the least leakage value in the study, followed by total-etch adhesive (Variolink 2) and glass ionomer cement (Meron). The most microleakage occurred when 10000 thermal cycles were applied, followed by 5000 and 1000 thermal cycles, respectively. According to the region, the leakage values are at most coronal and at least apical. Key Words: Fiber Post, Cements, Thermal Cycle, Microleakage
