Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate the human values of the referees in the different sport types in terms of several variables. The field of study consists of referees participated in soccer, basketball, and volleyball organizations held on the 2018-2019 sports season in Turkey. 440 soccer, 281 basketball, 393 volleyball referees are involved in this study. The participants are all volunteers whose total number is 1114, with 782 of them are male, and the rests are female. Demographical information is evaluated with the "personal information survey," including 8 items and the "scale for human values," which is developed by Dilmac (2007) to determine human values. Data obtained during the study is analyzed by the SPSS 22.0 statistical packet software. The t-test is used in pairwise comparisons, whereas the ANOVA test is used while comparing more than two samples. The level of significance was regarded as p<0.05. According to the findings obtained in the study, when the referees are evaluated according to the subscales of the human values scale, there is a statistically significant difference according to the variables of gender, marital status, age, branch, year of arbitration, educational status, occupation, basketball classification and volleyball classification (p <0.05). It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference according to football classification status (p> 0.05). It is determined that male referees have higher average scores than female referees and single referees compared to married referees. According to the profession variable, it is seen that the referees who are civil servants are higher than the students and the referees working in the private sector. According to the branch variable, basketball referees were found to have higher average scores than football and volleyball referees. When the football classification variable is examined, it is determined that the average scores of the provincial referees are higher than other classification and regional referees. As a result; as the education level of the referees participating in the research, the year of refereeing, and the age level increased, the human value judgments were positively affected, and the male referees had higher average scores than the female referees. We think that the year of refereeing, the level of education and professional status will contribute to the development of the human value judgments of the referees.
