Determination of antibiotic resistance of bacteria isolated from fish living in different aquatic systems

Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the resistance of some bacteria to the antibiotics isolated from fish living in different aquatic systems from Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane provinces in Eastern Black Sea Region was investigated. Rize samples from the marine environment, Artvin samples from Deriner Dam Lake and Gümüşhane samples from Kürtün Dam Lake of fish consist of total 87 bacteria were isolated and stored by previous studies. The resistance of bacteria to 9 different antibiotics Ampicillin (AM10µg), Gentamycin (CN10µg), Oxytetracycline (T30µg), Amoxicillin-Clavulanic Acid (AMC10µg), Enrofloxacin (ENR5µg), Trimethoprim/ Sulphamethoxazole (SXT-25µg), Florphenol (FFC-30µg), Sulphamethoxazole (SMZ25µg), Erythromycin (E15µg) were determined by disc diffusion method. It was determined that the highest resistance to Ampicillin (72.1%) and Sulphamethoxazole (62%), while the lowest resistance was to Gentamicin (1%) and Enrofloxacin (8%). In terms of multiple antibiotic resistance values, marine environment samples were found to be the higher (0.31) and the lowest value (0.21) for the bacteria isolated from wild fish species from the Kürtün Dam Lake. In all systems, the MAR index was calculated higher than the threshold of 0.2
