Abstract (EN)
Soil erosion has become one of the global environmental hazards that limit today's human survival and thus restricts global socioeconomic sustainable development. Therefore, a model is needed to guide the comprehensive control of soil erosion. In this study, we were used the WEPP model to simulate soil erosion and runoff in different soil series and land use types of the Middle Black Sea Transitional Zone Agricultural Research Institue lands in Tokat. The soil series in the study area are four soil series: Akış (12% slope), Deneme (5% slope), Elmalı (8% slope) and Yeşilırmak (2% slope). The meteorological data for 50 years (1967–2016) were collected from the meteorologic station in the Institute. Soil loss of 0.063 and 1.267 kg m-2 was calculated for Akış Series orchard and cropland (wheat-sunflower-sugar beet crop rotation) areas, respectively. The WEPP model estimated the soil losses for the Deneme Soil Series orchard and farmland (wheat-sunflower-sugar beet crop rotation) areas at 0.035 and 1.340 kg m-2, respectively. The average soil loss in agricultural areas where Elmalı series wheat-sunflower-sugar beet crop rotation was applied was estimated as 1.575 kg m-2. Quite low amount soil loss in Yeşilırmak Series farmland which is quite flat. According to the results of the study, the land of the institute was found sustainable in terms of soil losses.
