In this study, strength properties of 1/1 scaled box typed furniture which are produced with different production techniques and wood based materials with different thicknesses were investiated. In the experiments, among the types of wood based material; MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), chipboard with 14,16 and 18 mm thickness, okume (Aucoumea klainean) plywood are used. In the units of furniture with box construction which is produced as framed and frameless, doweled and doweled screwed joints are used. In joints polivinilasetat (PVAc) is used as an adhesive. Experimental boxes are experienced under static loads by bethinking the critic loads which can effect while usage. Experimental boxes? computer aided three-dimensional structural analysis were carried out by using finite element method (FEM) and experimental data were compared with analysis data. After the experiment virtual made final element model is verisimilitudes the real one. According to the experiment results, framed boxes carry more endurance, plywood than frameless boxes and doweled screwed experience boxes produced with MDF carries more loads. According to the performance experience results, in the design of box constructioned furniture, considering economic criterion from the point of materials, material choice should be done as plywood, MDF and chipboard. Doweled screwed joints should be prefered as a joint material. Materials and joints on this subject can be tried in variational types. Experimental models prepared with 18 mm thickness for the thickness of the board give better results than 16 mm thick boards, and 14-16 mm thick supplies appliance is betrayed from economic and technique aspect. Nowadays when computer technology is improving day by day and the usage of computers is become widespread, getting advance information before the production of designed furniture and providing optimization by making necessary changes according to these advance information will ease the designers? studies. As a result the one which will provide economic benefits is structural analysis programmes can be recommended to be used widespread in furniture engineering designs.
