Abstract (EN)
D-glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD, EC 1.1.1.49), is an enzyme that controls the Pentose phosphate pathway. In the pentose phosphate pathway, ribose-5-phosphate required for nucleic acid synthesis and oxidized NADP, which plays an important role in protecting against oxidative damage, are synthesized. In the thesis study, it was aimed to measure blood G6PD enzyme activities in hair goats of different ages. Forty female hair goats kept under the same care and feeding conditions were used in the study. The study groups (n=10) consisted of 0-12 months, 1-2 year, 2-3 year and 3-4 year old female hair goats. G6PD enzyme and Hb levels were measured in whole blood samples. G6PD enzyme activities per Hb were calculated by dividing the calculated G6PD enzyme activities by the Hb values (IU/g Hb). G6PD enzyme activities per Hb were 14,14; 15,04; 8,33 and 8,81 in 0-1, 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 years old goats, respectively; (IU/g Hb). Enzyme activities of 0-1 year old and 1-2 year old animals were found to be significantly higher than 3-4 and 4-5 years old animals (p < 0.05). The data obtained in the study is a reference value for G6PD enzyme levels in Hair goats. In addition, considering the relationship of G6PD with diseases and oxidative stress, it is thought that measuring G6PD enzyme activities in studies examining diseases and/or yield characteristics in goats will provide contribution to the field.
