Abstract (EN)
Knowing the behavior of structures under dynamic loads such as earthquakes helps to minimize structural damage that may occur after an earthquake. In the dynamic analysis of structures, the accurate determination of the ground motion acting on the structures is one of the most difficult parameters for engineers. During an earthquake, it is generally accepted that all supporting points of a structure are subjected to the same ground motion at the same time, in other words, uniform ground motion. In this point of view, earthquake waves are assumed to propagate at infinite speed and the change in ground motion during propagation is not taken into account. However, in long span systems, the ground motion acting on the supports will vary. In this study, a factory building having a steel structural system with a width of 28m, a length of 102m and a height of 8.25m is modeled in three dimensions with the help of SAP2000 Version24 software and it is aimed to determine the dynamic behavior of the structure in case the supports of the structure are subjected to different ground motions. In the study, the supports of the structure are assumed to have different ground conditions, and three different ground classes are considered in the dynamic analysis of the structure according to shear wave velocities by taking into account the local ground classes table according to Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation (TBDY, 2019), and accordingly, the ground motions to be used in dynamic analysis are selected from the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER). In the dynamic analyses performed to determine the behavior of the structure during an earthquake, uniform ground motion of all supports and different ground motions of the supports were taken into consideration and the results obtained were compared. As a result of the study, it was observed that if the bearings of the long-span structure are subjected to different ground motions, the dynamic behavior of the elements forming the structure may change.
