Improving the thermal regulation feature of sportswear by using phase change materials

Expectations from clothing sector have focused on the functional properties such as comfort of the clothes rather than the structure and model properties. In order for a person to feel comfortable, a warning about one environmental factors such as ambient temperature, humidity, wind speed, light must not be transmitted to the brain since clothes has an important effect on establishing a thermal balance between the body and the environment. İmportant in providing the thermal balance with the environment, fiber properties, structural parameters of yarn and fabric, chemical processes and clothing design features are very, transmitting or absorbing sweat according to the conditions, and breathability. The fibers to be used for clothing comfort should contain many features such as providing thermal balance by allowing effective heat transfer, absorbing and removing moisture quickly, being breathable with air permeability, having good handling properties, and being easy to use and maintain. Nowadays, phase change materials in textiles are mainly designed for protective clothing in extreme hot or cold environments to produce temperature regulating products with the aim of achieving improved thermal comfort. In this project, it is aimed to improve the thermal comfort of leggings, which is one of the most preferred clothing types in women's clothing, in cool and/or cold ambient conditions. As mentioned previously, considering the fabric structures used in leggings worn under daily activity conditions, it is aimed to make the individual feel more comfortable depending on the temperature changes in the ambient conditions by applying phase change materials to these fabric structures.
