Abstract (EN)

Resarch object of this thesis is about to influence of "essay" of development of the "know yourself" mentality during and the after the Englightenment period. So this thesis includes examination of the consept of "know yourself"' in the context of Montaigne, Cioran and Uygur‟s essays. The first episode mentions briefly about the limits of "know yourself" and its importance at history of philisophy. The second episode discusses Montaigne‟s perception of humans and "know yourself" in terms of ethics, politics, existentialism and metaphysics. The thoughts of Cioran and Uygur were examined within the same framework in the third and fourth episodes respectively. In the last chapter, it was discussed whether the understanding of 'know yourself' in ancient times has been reborn today under the influence of essay.
