Özet (EN)

Feminism has been a movement which has increased the struggle for women toget their rights since the sixties of the last century. Feminism which has found ways torepresent not only in social level but also in artistic levels, achieved to exist on thetheater stage. Although feminist theatre has shown differences according to the regionsand situations, there have been various similarities on text, writers, means of staging, language, purpose and similar teatral points. The idea of representing things on thestage in a feminist understanding has lead the development of an important movementcalled feminist theater. In this research feminist texts by feminist writers like Caryl Churchill?s TopGirls, Franca Rame and Dario Fo?s Lonely Woman and Sevilay Saral?s Five Women andFairytales for Women are analyzed. These four plays contain the elements of feministtheater within themselves in different points. Together with a close look on the socialbackground, the situation of the women in these countries are described. Despitefeminism?s struggle through different places, different topics and slogans, a commonteatratical language has contributed to create a theater which completely belongs tothem. Stage has been a center to decode the devices of patriarcal society, to share theproblems of women and find solutions for these problems. This research tries to putsome light on how these methods and devices are employed in the above mentionedtexts.
