Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the level of awareness of pre-service science teachers studying in Science Education Department towards Awareness and Environmental Problems towards Sustainable Development and also gender, class level, family income level, mother education level, father education level, environmental education follow-up status and The aim of this study was to determine whether the variables of taking environment lessons in the language make a significant difference, and then, according to these results, the opinions of prospective science teachers were taken and evaluated. In the study, exploratory sequential pattern, one of the mixed method designs, where quantitative and qualitative research methods are used together, is used. In the quantitative dimension of the study, the screening model, which is one of the quantitative research patterns, and the case study, one of the qualitative research methods, were used in the qualitative dimension. The study group in the quantitative stage of the study consisted of students studying in the Department of Science Education, Akdeniz University, 1st-4th a total of 222 pre-service science teachers. In the qualitative phase of the study, the study group consisted of 8 volunteer pre-service science teahers who participated in the quantitative phase. In collecting the quantitative data of the study, Personal Information Form; Sustainable Development Awareness Scale was used to determine Awareness for Sustainable Development and Behavior Scale for Environmental Problems was used to determine Behavior for Environmental Problems. In the qualitative data collection of the study, Semi-Structured Interview Form which was prepared in order to get the opinions of prospective science teachers on the issues of Awareness for Sustainable Development and Behavior for Environmental Problems was used. The data in the quantitative dimension of the study were analyzed from parametric tests via statistical package program; Independent Groups t-Test, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Pearson Correlation; among the nonparametric tests, Kruskal Wallis H Test was used. The qualitative data of the study were analyzed according to descriptive and content analysis. The main results of the study are as follows: It is also stated that pre-service science teachers are quite aware of their awareness levels for sustainable development. While gender, class level, family income level, mother education level, father education level, environmental follow-up status and environment taking environment courses did not show significant differences in quantitative dimension; gender, grade level, father education level, mother education level, environmental follow-up status and environment course taking variables indicated that there is a difference on awareness about sustainable development. It was found out that pre-service science teachers behaviors towards environmental problems were moderate and there was no significant difference on these behaviors according to class level, family income level, mother education level, father education level, environment-related publication follow-up, and receiving status was found to be significantly different. It was determined. In the qualitative dimension of the study, it was found out that father's educational status, mother's educational status, follow-up of the publication about the environment and taking environmental courses in the license make a difference on their behaviors towards environmental problems; and gender, class level, and family income status did not make any difference.
