Özet (EN)

SUMMARY A Study for Science Teachers to Develop Their Information and Skills About Designing and Using Instruction Sustaining Materials It is known that, through the varying and developing education system, student's learning of abstract and complex concepts can be provided easily by using well-designed device and materials. The most important factors for effective education, by this way, are teachers. They must also modify themselves to achieve the knowledge in developing education system. In this respect, inservice training is one of the important activities by which teachers can acquire these attributes. This study was planned to develop and apply an inservice training program intended for science teachers to give them the chance to develop their information and skills about designing and using instruction sustaining materials (ISM). Research sample of this study consists of 20 science teachers from Trabzon. A need assessment questionary and a semi- structured interview was applied to determine teachers' inservice need and their views about such courses. Also an attitude inquiry about inservice training was applied to 18 teachers from the sample. According to the findings, an inservice training program, intended for teachers to develop their information and skills about designing and using ISM, has been prepared. 6 teachers from Akçaabat attended a seven week-28 hours course program. Teachers have put out their needs about the new instruction method-techniques and their applications through the need assessment period. It's obvious that teachers have a rich and applicable knowledgement after this inservice course and so the goals of the design have been reached. For being successful! in such inservice courses, the fundamental points are either to make a need assessment through the design of the study or local academic support for the design. Key Words: Science Education, Inservice Education Program, Instruction Sustaining Materials. VII
