The effects of cooperative learning methods on learning the subjects of solutions in chemistry laboratory lessons in science teaching departments

In this study, the effects of both Cooperative Learning Method andTraditional Group Learning Method in Chemistry Laboratory courses wereresearched with respect to the attitude and the success of the university students.The sampling of the variables in the survey is the freshmen students ofScience Teaching Department in Kırşehir Educational Faculty. In the study, thepattern of experiment in which pre-test and final test were applied to control groupand experiment group.In the research, the freshmen students of Science Teaching Department inKırşehir Educational Faculty were chosen randomly. The data were collected by theAttitude Scale of Laboratory and Accomplishment Test of Chemistry. Furthermore,the Case Scale was applied to follow the weekly changes.Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, variation analysis and t-test were usedto interpret the data. The Chemistry Accomplishment Test was classified into 3, TheAttitude Scale of Chemistry Laboratory was grouped into 7 sub-categories and theanswers were analyzed and interpreted separately.According to the findings; Cooperative Learning in Chemistry Laboratorycourses was more effective than traditional grup learning from the point of academicsuccess. The Chemistry Accomplishment Test especially the results of questionsrelated to application level showed that there was the most meaningfulness inCooperative Learning Group?s favour.There were no meaningful difference between the experiment test group andcontrol group of the students.
