Investigation of vocational burnout levels of science teachers in terms of some variables

The aim of this study is to investigate the burnout levels of science teachers in terms of some variables. Within the scope of this aim, it is aimed to determine burnout levels of science teachers according to gender, age, seniority, weekly course hours, marital status and place of duty. This study, which focuses on the examination of the levels of occupational burnout of science teachers in terms of some variables, is quantitative. causal comparison model and correlative screening model were used. The universe of the study is composed of 239 science teachers working in the schools affiliated to the Directorate of National Education in Bitlis province. In this research, sampling was made with the appropriate sampling method and 158 science teachers were reached. Used in the context of research developed by Maslach and Jackson in 1981. The scale was adapted into Turkish by Ergin in 1992. Burnout scale consists of 3 dimensions and 22 items. While the original of the inventory was 7-point Likert scale, it was converted into 5-point Likert scale with the adaptation of Ergin (1992). The evaluation of the scale is as follows: Never, very rarely, sometimes, often, always. As a result of the research findings, the burnout levels of Science teachers; gender, age, seniority, weekly course hours, marital status and place of duty did not show a significant difference. The data obtained were subjected to frequency test, independent groups T test, one way ANOVA and simple linear correlation analysis. Analyzes were made from a total of 158 measurements.
