Education and technology are two concepts linked by invisible ties. A development in one affects the other. In other words; developing technology contributes to education, and thus, developing and renewed education systems allow for new technological developments. In today's world, it is almost impossible to think of education and technology separately. With face-to-face education becoming impossible during the pandemic process, the role of technology in education and the importance of access to these technologies have been clearly seen once again. One of these technological developments mentioned is Augmented Reality technology. Augmented reality applications, in short, are the use of mobile devices, personal computers and applications that are created with the help of computers instead of traditional methods during the lecture. When compared, science course includes more abstract concepts than other courses. Science course is also one of the courses in which the success rate is low. It is clear that science course success rate is low when looking at the number of correct answers obtained in the Science course sections of both the placement exams and the university exams. It would not be wrong to say that this situation is due to the abstract concepts included in the course and that it is a numerical course. One of the ways to increase the success rate in the course is to increase the students' mathematical skills and to facilitate the understanding of abstract concepts. For all these reasons, the focus of studies related to augmented reality applications has been the science course in general rather than other courses. In this study, 26 studies examining the contribution of using augmented reality technology in science education to students' academic success were analyzed. These studies were reached through YÖKTEZ. It was important the study must have been published in ten years to be chosen. Therefore, in this thesis, the time period of the studies is between 2015 and 2021. And it was also an important point that these studies must have been chosen from among the master's and doctoral studies. As a result of this review, which includes the definition of augmented reality, its development in the historical process, its different uses, its place and importance in education, the summaries of the studies included in the research, the evaluation of the findings, and the suggestions on augmented reality applications, it has been concluded that the use of augmented reality applications in science education at different grade levels will help students learn academically. It has been determined as a result of many studies that it is effective in their success and that this effect is positive in their motivation.
