Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the use of scientific stories on the achievement level of the 4th grade students in the "Let's Recognize the Living World of Living Creatures" unit their motivation towards science course and their scientific process skills. The study was conducted on 37 students from two different schools in the 4th grade in the primary schools of Eregli District of Zonguldak Province in 2014-2015 academic year. While control group was taught with science courses curriculum activities, the experiement group was thaught with scientific stori activities, in the science courses. Before and after the application of quantitative data, achievement test, motivation scale for science learning, scientific process skill scale were applied. In order to determine the validity and reliability of the tests and activities, a pilot application was practised in the 2013-2014 academic year and the tests were used according to the results. Experimental study was carried out in both groups for three weeks. The results obtained in this study were evaluated by using Independent Samples t-test and Paired-Samples t-test for dependent groups. As a result of the research; there was no difference between experimental and control groups before the experimental procedures according to achievement, science motivation and scientific process skills, and this result showed that the groups were equivalent. In the post tests after the application, a significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups and it was concluded that science lessons were beneficial with scientific stories. When the difference between achievement, science motivation and scientific process skills were examined between the pre-tests and post-tests in the experimental group, a difference was found in the success and motivation in favor of the post-test, and it was concluded that the use of scientific stories had a positive effect on success and motivation.
