Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to determine strategies used by students in Science High Schools while solving physics problems and investigate the relationship between strategy usage with gender, level of achievement and grade level. The research was done in 2016-2017 educational year at three state science high school in İzmir Metropolitan District. "High School Level-Problem Solving Strategies Scale used in Physics" developed by Eryılmaz Toksoy ve Çalışkan (2015) and "Physics Problem Solving Evaluation Form" developed by Çalışkan(2006) were used to determine the strategies used by students while solving physics problems. The research was conducted by using the cross-sectional approach which is one of the general survey methods. As data gathering tools qualitative and quantitative methods were used. In the analysis of the data arithmetic mean, standart deviation, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, constructed interviews were used. The results of the research indicated the relationship between the strategies used by Science High School students and gender, level of achievement and grade level.
