Abstract (EN)
In this study; the effect of phenol on oxidative stress and some antioxidant parameters in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) was investigated. In the study; a total of 120 fish with an average weight of 30 g were used. Phenol was given to the fish at concentrations of 0.01, 0.1 and 1 ppm for 96 hours. At the end of the experiment, malondialdehyde level as an indicator of oxidative stress, catalase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase activities and reduced glutathione level, which are antioxidants parameters, were analyzed in liver and gill samples taken from the fish. It was observed that tissue malondialdehyde levels in the phenol-treated groups were statistically higher than the control group (p < 0.05). While tissue catalase and glutathione peroxidase activities and reduced glutathione levels were found to be significantly decreased in the phenol-applied groups compared to the control group, tissue glutathione-S-transferase activities were found to be statistically significantly increased (p < 0.05)..
