Ferrruh Arsunar's life and contributions to Turkish folk music

In this study, it was researched how Turkish folk music compilation activities, which had started along with the Republican Era in Turkey, progressed and which institutions and people contributed to these activities; it was also discovered that no scientific studies had been conducted on Ferruh Arsunar, who contributed a lot to the Turkish folk music compilation activities, to date. Based on this finding, the life of Ferruh Arsunar, the institutions he worked at, his contributions to Turkish folk music compilation activities, his publications, the works he brought to the Turkish folk music repertoire were researched, and his works that were identified were examined and listed. In this research, in order to examine the contributions of Ferruh Arsunar to Turkish folk music and compilation activities, the historical research method, where analyses are conducted on the documents obtained from the archival research, was employed. Within the scope of this research, Ferruh Arsunar's writings, books, and works on Turkish folk music were analysed and described in documents such as books, journals, newspapers, books, photographs, state archive documents and notes obtained through archival research. Some of the conclusions from this research indicate that Ferruh Arsunar actively participated in the Turkish folk music compilation, recording and publishing activities initiated within Darü'l-Elhan, noted many folk songs in the Compilation Notebooks published by Darü'l-Elhan, participated folklore activities in Community Centers, and published his compilation activities as separate books.
