Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study; to investigate the effect of vitamin D level on kinesiophobia and fatigue in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). 50 patients with FMS and 50 control patients aged 20-60 years were included in the study. The patient's pain was evaluated with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), their functional status was evaluated with the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ), their fatigue was evaluated with the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), kinesiophobia was evaluated with the Tampa kinesiophobia scale (TKS), and the quality of life was evaluated with the Short Form-36 (SF-36). From the complete blood count, blood sedimentation values, serum C-reactive protein (CRP), rheumatoid factor (RF), liver function tests for routine controls of the patients; Alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST), creatine kinase (CK), creatinine, parathormone (PTH), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and vitamin D tests were performed. There was no significant difference in demographic characteristics between patients with fibromyalgia syndrome and control patients. When the clinical parameters were compared, the FIQ, VAS and FSS scores of the FMS patients were significantly higher than the controls (p<0.05). Quality of life scores of patients with fibromyalgia syndrome were significantly lower than the control group (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of plasma vitamin D concentration (p >0.05). No statistically significant parameter was found between clinical scales measured with vitamin D in the patient group with fibromyalgia syndrome (p>0.05). Low plasma vitamin D levels may contribute to kinesiophobia in FMS. When evaluating patients with FMS, the clinician should measure plasma vitamin D levels in patients with treatment-resistant FMS, also consider kinesiophobia and inform patients about the importance of kinesiophobia and treatment strategies. Keywords: FMS, vitamin D, kinesiophobia, fatigue, quality of life
