Jewish intelligence activities in Palestine (1882-1918)

The thesis deals with the Jewish intelligence activities in Palestine between 1882-1918. Aiming to examine the intelligence activities and their effects, the thesis aims to explain how Palestine, which was an integral part of the Ottoman Empire and one of its most important centers, was lost. The study started by giving introductory information about the history of Palestine; Europe's goals against the Ottoman Empire and the Ottoman Empire's situation at the time were discussed. The main subject of the thesis is the Zionists and the organizations established by the Zionists, who tried to take advantage of this situation of the Ottoman Empire and succeeded in this regard. The thesis, which describes the migration of Jews to the region over time and how these migrations were financed, also aims to provide extensive information about the activities carried out by Jews and Zionists for this purpose. The thesis discusses the strategies used by secret and armed Zionist organizations such as Hashomer, Hamagen, Gidonim and the Jaffa Organization in the war. The Zionists exiled in Egypt publicly collaborated with the Allies in the First World War. It can be said that the most important of the subjects covered by the study is the Nili Organization. Thanks to the intelligence provided by Nili to the British, the British gained superiority over the Ottomans. Nili's contribution to the opening of the Gaza-Beerşeba front in the south of Palestine was identified in the thesis. The thesis is based on new sources in several languages, especially Hebrew and Arabic, and is presented with a historical methodology. Claims and sources are compared with each other, and chapters and contents are brought together in the light of knowledge from different fields. Based on the topics covered in the study, it is possible to say that a multifaceted study and research methodology has been followed that will contribute to both the science of history and the science of intelligence. In this way, it is also aimed to contribute to the science of intelligence. The intelligence activities, which have been skimmed over in historical information, have gained a different dimension in our thesis study, and information that will contribute to the history of the intelligence phenomenon has been brought together. These activities that took place between 1882-1918 will be better understood thanks to the contribution offered by the systematic examination of these activities in the thesis.
