Abstract (EN)
In our day, the concept of animation is associated with computer - aided designs and film designs. However, animating objects and designs in an orderly manner lie in the fundementals of animation. When searched upon written sources regarding animation, this effort goes back to the productions people from primitive ages. Drawings made on the walls of caves as an artistic impulse provide us the opportunity to learn about primitive people. Humans who lived centuries ago, investigated creatures in motion, discovered and developed methods for description to transmit them. An eight-legged bison believed to be dated back to 30.000 - 35.000 years ago, can be indicated as the first evidence of it. Human, who saw a bison in motion, probably considered it as a threat; tried to warn other humans and to animate running effect draw the bison as eight-legged on the cave walls. In the first part of this study, by making use of the definition of animation and the findings from the archaeological excavations, the first animation descriptions through the history are investigated. In the second part, information is given over the animation tools that are invented before the invention of film - making. In the third part, a few instances are given from contemporary artists that devise using pre-film animation tools. According to the written sources utilized in the formation of this study, development of puppetry and stage arts are mentioned in the centuries between first and second chapters. Since it is a whole seperate research topic, they are not involved thoroughly in this work. Animation is subjected to several varying disciplines like fine arts, entertainment, science and medicine. In this study, pre-film era motion descriptions and animation tools that begin with cave drawings and terracotta objects. In light of this information, solo ceramic practices are animated without using camera and movie technics. The purpose of this study is; to contribute to the understanding of the combination of primitive ceramics and animation arts made in the past in contemporary ceramic art.
