Özet (EN)

Markets getting integrated with the process of globalization and the competence related to this trend and the needs of being different from others as a result of this pattern are leading companies to make strategic decisions for management of business life. Not only being in line with the age of technology and creating utility for customers but also considering the costs and profits are obligations for the companies to exist in the market. As a natural result of need for survival, the companies have improved some of their core competencies and have been using them since the time of integration led by globalization started. These abilities defined as core competence by companies have provided differentiating priorities in the market. They also have become structures hardly imitable and parts of company culture. Nonetheless, core competencies have been in the need for supports to make more strategic decisions and to preserve their positions of the competence. Geographic information systems for improving the actions and the efficiency in business life can be used by companies as an existing databases management and also as decision support systems. The systems for saving positional and unpositional data and processing them simultanously is able to visualise the results on the map. Geographic information systems is not widely and efficientl used in Turkey, although in the world the system is enlarging its scope and area of influence. Many companies associations and non-profit organizations have been benefiting from geographic information system to create differentiating priorities and to improve the processes in business life.
