Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of physical activity cards on the attitudes of the students towards the lesson and to determine the views of the students, parents and teachers regarding the cards.Mixed model which includes both quantitative and qualitative research was used in the study. In this respect, pre-test post-test model with experiment-control group was used for quantitative research and phenomenology model was used for qualitative research. The students from 5th, 6th, 7th grades of one of the school situated in Zonguldak Province Gökçebey District were participated within this study in 2012-2013 education year. There were 153 students in experiment groups and 150 students in control group.The quantitative data were gathered by using "Physical Education and Sport Attitude Scale", questionnaire forms to determine the views of students and parents. Diaries of physical education teachers and were used for gathering qualitative data. The data were gathered by the diaries of the teachers were analyze by using descriptive analysis. Percentage, frequency and two way repeated measures analysis of variance techniques were used to analyze the quantitative data. The effects of physical activity cards on the attitude of the students towards the lesson were analyzed, a significant difference was seen on the main effect of time x group. According to this result, the education that students in both experiment and control group took, created a significant differences on the attitude level before and after the program. However, being a part of different groups did not create any differences on the attitude scores of the students.When students' views about cards used in physical education lessons were analyzed, the most of the students stated that cards made differences in lessons, they liked the lessons and enjoyed having lessons with these cards, having lesson with cards increased their participation to lessons, the cards improved their movement skills and their self-confidence, they did not have any difficulties in practicing these cards, having lesson with these cards provided them to move in cooperation and to make the lesson more enjoyable. Key Words: Physical Education Cards, Physical Education and Attitude When parent's views were analyzed, most of the parents of the students were aware of the methods used in lessons and the content of cards, their children talked to them about the lesson, using of cards in lesson supported education, having these cards in lesson changed their children's interest towards the lesson, their children started to take interest in sport gradually after these cards had been used, having lessons with cards contributed to their children's physical development and the cards provided their children to express themselves easily. When the views of physical education teachers were analyzed, teachers were of the view that most of the cards was suitable to student level, most of the students understood the cards easily and participated, majority of the class participated in the lesson in general, students used the materials too much during the lessons, nearly the whole class enjoyed the lesson with these cards, they generally participated in groups or individually, most of the students were respectful and obeyed security precautions.
