Abstract (EN)

International survey companies have explored the hydrocarbon potential of offshore Foça, Aliağa and Yeni Şakran, and then, Union Texas Turkey was drilled Foça-1 exploration well on Foça horst block, completed at 2220 meters as dry well. It is suggested that the petroleum potential of the region is generally defined by the Early Miocene lacustrine deposits, which indicate both source and reservoir rock characteristics. A similar petroleum system has been defined for Soma formation in Alaşehir and Bakırçay grabens. In this study, multi-channel seismic reflection data have been used to define the hydrocarbon potential of offshore Foça-Aliağa region. For this purpose, a total of 800 km seismic data collected in 1978 and 1985 have been analyzed and interpreted. In addition, the depth, distribution and unconformity of sedimentary rocks as well as unconformity surfaces were defined in the study area, and possible hydrocarbon traps have been defined. Seismic data indicates that Bakırçay Graben extends into the Çandarlı Gulf. In addition, structure of the Foça Graben was determined and the Lower Miocene sediments within the Foça Graben was described. Seismic and gravity data are evaluated together to obtain sub-surface geological structure and the extensions and depths of the basinal structures were determined, and the mapped graben and horst structures are defined.
