Abstract (EN)
In our study, information about botanical features, chemical content, biological acitivity, clinical studies, and folklorik usage of Foeniculum vulgare Mill. were collected in details, samples were collected from cultivars and bought from herbalists were analyzed for their compliance to European Pharmacopeae 6.0, according to macroscobic, microscobic, foreing matter, total ash, water content, thin layer chromatography (TLC) and Gas chromatography-Mass Spectrometric methods present in the Pharmacopea.As a result of our experimental studies, Fennel fruits obtained from cultivars (5 samples) in Turkey and bought from herbalists (5 samples) comply with the standards in the European Pharmacopea 6.0 for their macroscobic, microscobic, total ash and water. As for volatile oil levels only one sample FV2 was suitable with the Pharmacopea, the others were below 2%. Volatile content of the samples were analyzed with chromatographic methods. When foreign materials were analyzed, 2 samples out of 5 from cultivars and 3 samples out of 5 from herbalists did not comply with the Pharmacopea 6.0.Additionally in our study, a place allocated for products used alone or products containing fennel sold in Turkey, a general evaluation was conducted on these products.
