Abstract (EN)

Using inhibitors in order to protect from the corrosion is very common.Together with using various chemicals for this purpose, research on the utilization ofnaturel products as inhibitors has increased in the recent years. In this study, owing to the their molecular structure Folium Salviae andRadix (Liquiritae) Glycrryhizae are expected being good inhibitors for mercury steelcorrosion. Their inhibition efficiencies on corrosion of mercury steel wereinvestigated at different pHs. To obtain the experimental data AC impedance, polarization resitance measurement and polarization curves measurement techniqueswere used. The percent inhibition efficiency (IE%) values were determined in thepresence of Folium Salviae and Radix (Liquiritae) Glycrryhizae. The results showedthat inhibition efficiency change with pH. The effectiviness of Folium Salviae ascorrosion inhibitors was not seen at pHs 4 and 4,5 but inhibition efficiency up to 85-90% and 70-75% can be obtained at pHs 5 and 7, respectively. It is observed thatRadix (Liquiritae) Glycrryhizae didn?t behave as a good inhibitor at all pHs studied.KeyWords: mercury steel, corrosion inhibitors, Folium Salviae and Glycrryhizae,EIS.II
