Özet (EN)
When Emily Brontë's daring masterpiece Wuthering Heights was published in prudish and bigoted Victorian England, it shocked the readers. Today, it has inspired many contemporary works including the postcolonial novels. Maryse Condé's Windward Heights and Caryl Phillips' The Lost Child were inspired by Brontë's Wuthering Heights. They are the literary responses to the novel. While Condé and Phillips remain loyal to the main dynamics of the original novel, they create their own novels as polyphonic and lead the story to another level. Ostracism due to racism, and class struggle are elucidated and discussed in different settings. The analysis will be done within the context of postcolonial framework with a cross reference to Marxist and Orientalist views.
