Abstract (EN)

In this study, thioxanthone based 4-(2-methyl-2-morpholinopropanoyl)-1-(methylthio)-9H-thioxanthen-9-one was synthesized. This photoinitiator was characterized by spectrophotometric techniques such (UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, LC-MS (ESI, Q-TOF)). Photoinitiated polymerization of methyl methacrylate was carried out in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) with different TX-907 concentrations in the presence and absence of a tertiary amine (NMDEA) and optimum concentration of TX-907 was determined. Singlet energy, Stern-Volmer quenching constants and fluorescence quantum yield by using 9,10-diphenyl anthracene as standart are calculated. It is found out that, TX-907 has one component type II photoinitiator behaviour and the mechanism of photoinitiation is based on intramolecular hydrogen abstraction mechanism.
