Determination of free time activities and expectattions of students studying at some universities in firat area

The aim of the study is to determine free activity sort and attendance frequency of Firat, Inonu, Bingol and Tunceli university students in Firat area, through independent variables such as gender, revenue, and university. Also, the aim of the study includes determination of what the university students except from the university management.The study group is composed of 3009 students, who are studying in Firat, Inonu, Tunceli and Bingol universities in Firat area and were selected among 60 thousand students in central campuses of the universities via random sampling technique.The statistical findings have been evaluated by means of SPSS (Statistic Packet For Social Sciences 15.0) program. Frequency distribution of all questions has been made out and their percentage values have been determined. Validity and reliability tests have been made as the alpha value is 75.766 per cent. The survey questions have been evaluated by Likert Typed Scale. In simple distribution table, percentage distribution of variable regarding alternatives has been calculated. As for cross tables, they have been used to determine the relationship between two variables. Chi Cquare test has been used to find out the relations among the variables.It has been concluded that students are very much interested in training, reading books, listening to music, watching television, chatting with their friends, while they are less interested in activities such as attending social and cultural activities, going to the cinema and theatre. Students have some expectations from the university administrators to treat leisure time. These can be said respectively as; organization of conferences and exhibitions, establishment of hobby clubs, opening places for playing chess, billiard and card games, organizations of sporting activities, and making common organizations.Keywords: Free time, recreation, university, students
