Abstract (EN)
Normal stool is consistency and shape, weighing 200-300 grams a day, ranging from three to three days. Diseases with diarrhea take the second place as causing death after cardiovascular diseases in underdeveloped and developing countries. It is the main cause of death in children under 5 years old. Diarrhea usually occurs when the gastrointestinal system, especially the small intestine and large intestine section, encounters factors such as bacteria, viruses and parasites. These include Salmonella spp. Shigella spp. , Campylobacter jejuni (C. jejuni), Clostridium difficile (C. difficile), Shiga-like toxin-producing Escherichia coli (E. coli), Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica), G. intestinalis, Rotavirus, Astrovirus, Norovirus, Adenovirus, and Cryptosporidium parvum (C. parvum). This study was carried out by examining the stool samples of 100 patients who were requested to be examined in order to determine the bacterial, viral and parasitic diarrhea factors in the stool samples in the Medical Microbiology Center Laboratory of Fırat University Medical Faculty. C. parvum, E. histolytica, G. intestinalis, C. difficile, Rotavirus, Adenovirus, Astrovirus, Norovirus, C. difficile antigens were evaluated using the immunochromatographic method based cassette test in accepted stool samples. Bacterial diarrhea agents were studied with Real Time PCR. In 1 patient out of 100 stool samples taken in our study, Salmonella spp. , 1 patient Shigella spp. C. jejuni in 13 patients. E. coli producing Shiga-like toxin in 9 patients, C. difficile in 27 patients, Rotavirus in 16 patients, Adenovirus in 8 patients, Astrovirus in 5 patients, Norovirus in 6 patients, C. parvum in 1 patient, G. intestinalis in 1 patient were detected. In our study, E. histolytica was not detected as a factor.
