Abstract (EN)

With the study that name is the relation of evil and sin in the philosophy of Frederick Robert Tennant, we have examined the problem of evil which is an important topic that we faced in the philosophy of religion and the concept of the sin which is the root of the Christian theology in the frame of Tennant?s work. We tried to determine the difficulties of theism by explaining the original sin and falling down from original place while the theists were explaining the sin and evil. After finding the problem and explaining the notions of the study, we tried to show the relation of the evil and sin. With this study, our goal is to demonstrate the view of Tennant in the relation of the evil and sin.In the introduction, we gave some brief information about Tennant?s Life and his work because there is no study in Turkish about him. We had an attempt to signify his academic background, the academic divisions where he studied, and, as a scholar of religion, the titles that he took.In the first section, we studied the problem of evil under two topics in the philosophy of Tennant. In the first topic, we tried to clarify the connection of the physical evil and the will of God according to Tennant classification. Under the other topic, we interpret the view of him about freedom by explaining ethical evil and its relation to the human will. The second section is about the notion of sin and, with this concept; Tennant?s defence and proves of Theism while it was explained by the theist philosophers and people. The concept of original sin and the notion of falling were explained in this section under the light of Tennant?s books. In the third section, we tried to establish a connection between the problem of evil and the concept of sin, which were explained in fist two sections, by using Tennant?s empirical method. In addition, we tried to give an outline of our subject by talking about his philosophy. In the conclusion, we evaluated the context and method of Tennant?s book to find the relationship of our terms that were the major concepts of our study.
