Investigation of the effects of grape juice supplementation on oxidative stress and uncoupling protein levels in football players

Abstract (EN)

The effects of grape juice supplementation on oxidative stress parameter, uncoupling protein levels, body composition and biomotoric properties in football players were investigated. For the study, 2 groups were formed with 20 football players, football training was done for 8 weeks, 6 days a week. The 1st group (n: 10) was only trained, the 2nd group (n: 10) football player was trained for 8 weeks and a total of 400 ml of grape juice was drunk daily before training (200 ml) and after training (200 ml). Statistical analysis of the data was done with the help of SPSS package program (IBM SPSS version 21.0). The conformity of the data to the normal distributions was examined using the Shapiro-Wilks test. While the "dependent samples t-test" was used for normally distributed data, the "Wilcoxon test" was used for data that did not show normal distribution. To reveal the statistical difference of the data between the groups; While the "T-test for independent samples" was used for normally distributed data, the "Mann Whitney U" test was used for data not showing normal distribution. The statistical significance level was accepted as P<0.05. As a result; in the control group of 8-week training in football players; It did not affect AST, urea, cholesterol levels, left claw strength and back-leg strength, It lowers ALT, creatine, glucose, triglyceride and MDA levels, Increases insulin, UCP2, UCP3 levels, vertical jump, standing long jump and flexibility, in the grape juice group; It does not affect AST, urea, glucose, cholesterol levels and back-leg strength, It reduces ALT, creatine, triglyceride, MDA levels and 30 meters sprint, right claw strength and left claw strength, It has been determined that insulin, UCP2, UCP3 levels, vertical jump, standing long jump, and flexibility increase. In the meantime, it was determined that grape juice supplementation decreased oxidative stress by showing a synergistic effect and increased UCP-2, UCP-3 levels and vertical jump height.
