The examination of The Opera ?Rigoletto? by G. Verdi in terms of singing tecnique and its'interpretation problems

The opera Rigoletto composed by Giuseppe Verdi is considered to be one of the most famous operas in the world. In this study, it is examined from the standpoint of singing techniques and interpretation problems. Important solo parts, duets, terzett, Quartet and Choir parts are detailed and studied in ways of singing techniques, interpretation problems and pedagogically.The study also includes the life of the composer and his work of art; the synopsis of the three act opera and the Turkish translation of the libretto.The piece was first analysed for its' techniques because of the difficulty in performing it. The results obtained were tried first using my voice technique as a base, then according to the other vocal groups which the piece contains, and finally on the voices of my students. The workout done with the students showed serious breathing difficulties. To solve this problem, breathing exercises were performed on flat tone long music phrases.The piece was also analysed by internet, dvd ,voice and video recordings from different periods, because the opera Rigoletto was performed using different techniques in various periods. The information gained was used during the workout with the students. Considering the dramatic structure of the piece, an analysis of all the characters was also carried out. The information obtained in this research and the information obtained from the technique analysis were integrated to expose the dramatic structure of the piece.Opera arts with subjective values are always difficult to analyse, and, because of this a very careful workout must be done. To clarify a common technique, the physical structure of the voice and pharyngeal, which varies form person to person, must be understood very well. The vocal characteristics, teeth, tongue, palate and chin structure of the students were all considered to obtain the best interpretation of the piece. Also a very serious performance workout was done to achieve a significant result.The aria parts of the opera were distinguished especially due to their technical features to determine their interpretation and voice problems. A one hour singing exercise was done with the students, and after this practice, a piano accompaniment was also studied. This kind of vocal technique is called ?Belcanto?To conclude: My most important work of art called "Rigoletto? by Giuseppe Verdi is a carrier opera. To perform this opera which is picked up for every repertoire in all opera houses in the world, it needs a two octave sound interval, correct articulation, a strong breathing technique and acting knowledge. All these features combined, are still not enough for a good performance. They also require discipline, patience and experience.
