Abstract (EN)
VI ABSTRACT The structure and structural interdependency of cotton and textile industries have been analyzed using an Input-Output model of Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Region which is the most comprehensive integrated regional development project ever carried out in Turkey. Data were obtained from survey of 72 cotton farms and 103 textile companies. Textile industry seems to have potential of key role in order to attain project's target related to cotton production. By the year 2010 which means wholly completion of GAP, 161,700 of new jobs which is composed 1 12,000 of in cotton sector and rest in textile industries might be created. Total gross value added also might be 2.3 times higher than base year 1993 in cotton and etxtile industries in the region. In the future substantial new investments which will generate production capacity are needed in weaving and apparel subsector of textile industries as it is presently in the GAP Region.
