Abstract (EN)

The Garip movement (I. New) is a poetry movement pioneered by Orhan Veli Kanik, Melih Cevdet Anday and Oktay Rifat. This movement emerged in the 1940s with the interest in free poetry in terms of form. In this thesis study, how Garip poets handle the objects are examined. In our thesis entitled "Object Approach in Garip Poetry"; We have reached the conclusion that Garip poets deal with the meanings hidden in objects and objects with an everyday language and a surreal approach. Owing to their interest in the material dimension of the world they live in, Garip poets, which constantly took an inventory of objects belonging to the outside world, approached objects with a child's sensitivity, redesigned and built them. The Garip poetry is far from metaphysical, close to the materialistic line. In poems that handle with ordinary objects that are part of a routine life, the privacy behind the object is revealed. Garip poets have expressed their feelings and thoughts and social criticisms through objects. With an innovative approach, they used objects by pushing the boundaries of language. In Orhan Veli Kanık's poems, objects appear to us with both their symbolic and concrete existence. The poet has chosen objects from everyday life and has brought to the fore the objects that reflect the little person. Objects are alive in Oktay Rifat Horozcu's poems. The poet has established a relationship between mood and objects. He identified man and object with nature, processed objects belonging to nature in his poems. According to him, the world we live in gains a meaning together with objects. Melih Cevdet Anday thinks that there is no way to understand objects and sees words and objects independently of each other. In his poems, the poet has associated the object with time, has assigned a memory to time and objects. Anday, who assimilates objects, has assigned new meanings to them through images. Garip movement is an important turning point in terms of opening the door to innovations in Turkish poetry of the Republican Period with the objects and concepts that includes its poems.
