Theorical analyze of journalism ethics and the reflexions of 9/11 event on Canadian and Turkish newspapers as an application case

Based on the reason of questioning permanently on the accountability of the journalisticprofessionalism which has been ranged such as the fourth power in the mechanisms anddimensions of the society after the legislative, executive and judicial powers in the alldemocratic societies without any exceptions, this study contains a theorical and anapplied researching in order to study on the journalistic ethics. Undoubtedly, in the basic ofquestioning on the accountability of the journalistic professionalism, it is very important tofocus on the application or the incompliance of the principles of the journalistic ethics.By this context, in our study, it has been aimed at examining on the ethics and moralityrules taking an important place in a given society in order to understand more the principlesof the journalistic ethics.The basic aim of this PhD thesis that has been completed after profoundly researching wasto display especially the context of the journalistic professionalism ethics, its principles andits common principal issues. In the application part of our thesis, taken the event of 9/11 asan example that had created the major impacts on our global society by socio-economic andpolitical points, we had exposed the news and approaches similarities and differences of thetwo countries: Turkey and Canada by giving place to the reflections of the Turkish andCanadian newspapers on this terror event.Although our application case constitutes a difficulty, in comparison to the cases whichhave been easily distinguished and criticized such as `the offences on the personalityrights?, `corruption?, `relations between the government and the oppositions? and`blackmail? from the point view of the conformity or unconformity formats of the theirnews covering, our case application example?s beyond that flexibility has been focusedafortiori on the reality of the unilaterally reflection of the dominant powers and thoughts ofthe covering of the 9/11 event that had been considered such as a terror event in theinternational and even global dimensions.
