The Effects of instructors on improving the inquiry skills of the students of Gazi Education Faculty Department of Biology Education

THE EFFECTS OF INSTRUCTORS ON IMPROVING THE INQUIRY SKILLS OF THE STUDENTS OF GAZÎ EDUCATION FACULTY DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY EDUCATION (Master of Science Thesis) Mehmet YILMAZ GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY September 1989 \ ABSTRACT This research was made on the model groups including: the teachers and the students of Gazi UniVersxty Education Faculty Biology Department. After the main hypothesis of the research was built up, first data and materials were collected by using "Survey Method" Ten sub-hypothesies which supported the main hypothesis were built up. In order to determine the problems and the thoughts of the model groups on this subject, first an open-end then a close-end questionnaires were prepared and applied. The results of the questionnaires were analyzed statistically and were tried with T-test. In accordance with this, it was. c determined that the model groups had consensus on the first, seventh and eighth sub-hypothesises but they had different thoughts on the others.The findings supported the main hypothesis of the research. The obtained results were evaluated in accordance with our present education system and the roles that instructors should play in developing the inquiry skills of the students and the causes of the handicaps that have arisen on this subject were researched and explained in the "results" and "discussion" parts of the thesis.
