Design of jewellery education programme curriculum, which is applied at Gazi University, Vocational Education Faculty, handcraft education, decorative teaching products department

The goal of this study is to design of Jewellery Education Programme Curriculum, which is applied at Gazi University, Vocational Education Faculty, Handcraft Education, Decorative Teaching Products Department, to be based upon students opinions. This research study contains third and senior level undergraduate students at Gazi University, Vocational Education Faculty, Handcraft Education, and Decorative Teaching Products Department. 77 students were included in the study and the data were evaluated by using Microsoft Excel. To interpret the results of the research for the analysis of the data, frequency and percentage distribution were calculated and findings were given at tables. When the data are analyzed, it is implied that Design of Jewellery Education Programme is mostly liked by the students. The laboratories for Design of Jewellery Education are not big enough. And they are also determined that the equipment used in the laboratories is not technological. The total of the course hours was found satisfactory. The courses were also found to meet their aims. In general, it was stated that the techniques used in the curriculum were not enough and it was determined that the hand crafts made during the classes were reflected by technological developments at the market. The level of the resources used in the classes was moderately enough. In general, it was seen that the hand crafts made in the classrooms were similar to the products at the market. It was implied that the partial opportunity to applications of the new techniques at the Programme Curriculum was given. There isn?t a possibility to exhibit and to sell the products produced in the classes. It was understood that these products drew attention outside the university as well. Most of the students frequently suffer to get the necessary materials for their products. The equipment is insufficient with regard to the technology. The curriculum is not enough with respect to its content. The training received by the students is partly appropriate for their professional careers. Models and periodicals are mostly used in the classes as resources. The teaching methods used at the design of Jewellery Education Curriculum are moderately suitable. It is partially possible for students to use their creativities in the Design of Jewellery Education Programme Curriculum. Students say that it is impossible to learn all the techniques taught to them in the curriculum. The behaviors of the teaching staff to attract the students? attentions to the courses are determined by a great majority of students.
