An Analysis of the problems encountered in the process of inservice training at the Gaziantep municipalities and suggested solutions

ABSRTACT AN ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN THE PROCESS OF INSERVICE TRAINING AT THE GAZİANTEP MUNICIPALITIES AND SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS YILDIRIM, Mehmet Supervisor: Doç.Dr.Erdal CEYHAN December 2000, IJpuPages This research was done in order to determine the problems met in applications of inservice training in the municipalities in Gaziantep, and to suggest some solutions. The questionnaire used in the research was, in general, assumed to include the municipality staffs situations related with inservice training. The determination of the municipality staffs situations related with inservice training was limited within the municipality staff, whom the questionnaire was applied to. VIİn the research, the survey method was emplayed. In the application of the questionnaire, a sample of 299 personels, in total, working for the Gaziantep Grand City and town municipalities, 37 of whom were administrators, was reached. in the data analysis, frequency, percentage and Chi-Square techniques were used. With the findings gathered, the follwing results were obtained: 1. Approximately 70% of the municipality staff are in need of instruction in relation to their occupations. 2. The municipality staff aren't encouraged to take an inservice training and a further instruction by their institutions. 3. There isn't an intensive and appropriate inservice training in their institutions. 4. A unit to arrange inservice activites in their institutions/is belreved to be beneficial. 5. It is believed (58%) that there is no favoritism in the selection of the personnels to attend the inservice training activities in their institutions. 6. It is believed (87%) that the personnels who attended the inservice training are more productive than the others. vn7. As the subject for the inservice training they need and care, "new tecniques related with the occupation", "applications related with the field " and "computer running" take the first three places in the ranking.
