Abstract (EN)

In this study, ethanol extracts of Mentha longifolia L. Hudson ssp. longifolia that collected from different localities of the city of Gaziantep were aimed to determine antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of ethanol extracts and mineral contents of the soil samples. Rel Diagnostics kits (TAS, TOS) and DPPH assay method were used for determine antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts of Mentha longifolia L. Hudson ssp. longifolia. Modified agar dilution method was used for determine antimicrobial activity of ethanol extracts of Mentha longifolia L. Hudson ssp. longifolia. Mineral matter content was determined using atomic absorption spectrometry after wet digestion method. According to the results of antioxidant tests that significant free radical scavenging activity of the obtained extracts of plant samples were observed with DPPH method and REL Assay Diagnostics kits. The plant samples showed variability in antimicrobial activity depending on the concentration of the plant extracts. Also, all of the extracts has been found effective against fungi. Result of mineral matter analysis; the Fe content was found higher in all plant samples and the Fe and Mg contents were found higher in soil samples than the limit value. As a result; the plant samples of same species, which collected from different habitats were observed variability in the biological activities and composition of minerals.
