Özet (EN)
This study, which is the result of the research based on in-depth interviews with a group of teachers, deals with the social contact that indigenous people established or avoided with Syrian migrants in Gaziantep in the context of prejudices and othering. A large number of stereotypes and prejudices that have appeared in many other studies are confirmed once again. The aspect that distinguishes this study is that it focuses more on the factors behind these attitudes. On this occasion, the roles of factors such as historical heritage, gender identity, class position, professional and ideological concerns behind othering are problematized. Ultimately, an operational model of othering through the prejudiced and empathetic postures of the person is tried to be revealed.
