An invastigation on the Syrian immigrant entrepreneurs in Gaziantep

One of the biggest migration movements was the Syrian one which resulted due to the Syrian civil war that started in 2011, Moreover, Turkey is now home to the largest refugee population in the world. As of the end of 2018, the number of registered Syrian refugees is recorded over 3.6 million. The integration of Syrians refugees in Turkey has so far been through different interactions, the economic integration was one of the most functional and influencing way. The Syrian refugees are able to support themselves by being business owners in the new countries they have seek asylum, Since March 2011 and during 8 years of immigration, around 8000 new companies were established in the different cities of Turkey. This study investigates the economic impact of the Syrian businessmen refugees on regional business markets through inclusive and extensive in-person surveys administered with business owners of 210 surveys, out of those 188 Syrian-owned SMEs in Gaziantep have answered the questionnaires. As entrepreneurship is the most effective tool for achieving comprehensive economic growth in society in all its components and represents an instrument of creating new jobs in the community, which is reflected positively on the Turkish domestic economy.
