Investigation of NGOs' views on solutions and solution proposals in the integration of Syrian refugees in the Turkish education system in Gaziantep

In this study, it is aimed to investigate that opinions and solution proposals of NGOs' managers related to the integration problems in the Turkish education system of Syrian refugees who had to come to Turkey and settled in Gaziantep because of the war. The research model is case study. The study universe of the research consists of Non-Governmental Organization managers in Gaziantep. The sample of the study consists of 12 Non-Governmental Organization managers in Gaziantep province. After the decision was made to use the semi-structured interview technique in the collection of the data in the research, an "Executive Interview Form" was developed by the researcher and the "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher was used to determine the personal characteristics of the participants. As a solution proposal for the problems Syrian students face during the education process, it is stated mostly for language education. In the integration of Syrian Refugees into the Turkish Education System, the vast majority of non-governmental organizations stated that Turkish language education was not sufficient for Syrian students. In the evaluation of the studies on the linguistic integration of Syrian students, they stated that almost half of the non-governmental organizations have language education studies. It was determined that Turkish students mostly have discrimination attitude towards Syrian students.It was stated that the activities of integration actors (public institutions, policy makers, NGOs) towards the adaptation of Syrian students are positive. It was determined that the activities carried out were mostly adaptation studies and then language education. Keywords: integration, Syrian Refugees, NGOs‟ Managers
