Abstract (EN)
Foot disease and deformed hooves have an important place in cattle breeding and its economy. This study was performed to determine the incidence of foot disease, which is seen around Gaziantep and its neighbourhood cattles, and to put forward the treatment results. 1912 cattle formed the material of this study. 1818 of these cattle (95.09%) are female cattle and 94 (4.91%) male cattle. It was observed that 1042 of cattle in this study are holstein (54.50%), 649 simmental (33.94%), 143 Brown swiss (7.48%), 56 local breed of East Anatolian (2.93%), 22 mixed breed (1.15%). These diseases most frequently were observed in three years old. (25.35%). It was found that 213 cattle which have foot disease are 13.43 % holstein, 8.93% simmental, 7.69% Montofon, 5.35% localbreed of east Anatolia, and 4.54% mixed breed. It was observed that the most common seen foot disease is interdigital hyperplasia (29 cases, 13.62%), however the most rare seen foot disease is heel erosion (4 cases, 1.88). 123 (52.34%) had sharp claws, 43 (18.30 %) twisted claws, 36 (15.32%) flat and broad claws, 14 (5.96%) scissors claws, 11 (4.68%) pointed claws and 8 (3.40%) blunt claws were observed in this study. It was detected that the claw deformations were effective in the formation of foot lesions. It was determined that 42.22's of the foot lesions is caused by deformation in the claw. In conclusion, it was observed that the incidence of cattle foot diseases in the Gaziantep region is %11.14 between 2014-2015. Cattle breeders were informed about the causes of foot care and results and about the importance of foot disease formation.
