Investigate the feasibility of just in time applications in the food industry

Just in Time (JIT) Manufacturing is defined as the production of the just needed product at the required time to respond to customer needs in the fastest way. JIT Manufacturing System which applied for decades in automotive industry is preferred for the benefits like; zero waste policy, minimum stock, productive and efficient production process, high quality product and continuous improvement. In the second section of our study, JIT Production System and its elements were defined in detail by the literature publications, and examples of their applications in the food industry were given. In the third and fourth section, a survey was conducted with the participation of food companies in Bursa region to evaluate the awareness and feasibility of JIT applications in food industry. As a result of the research, it was determined that food companies did not have sufficient knowledge about JIT system.
