Özet (EN)

Aim: The aim of the research was to examine the effect of pregnants preparation for labor, fear of labor and mindful awareness levels on their preferance of delivery mode. Method: This research was planned as analytic cross-sectional study. The universe of the study consisteded of pregnants who were enrolled in Manisa Central district family health centers and the sample of the research consisted of 363 pregnant women who were enrolled in six family health centers selected by draw from there and agreed to participate in the study voluntarily. The data were collected with the "Pregnant Introductory Form", "Preparation for Labor and Fear of Labor Subscales" which were subscales of Prenatal Self-Evaluation Scale and "Mindful Awareness Scale". In the analysis of the data, normal distribution suitability test, univariate analyzes and multiple logistic regression analysis were used. Results: It was found that the mean age of pregnant women were 27,69 ± 5,31 and 56,7% of them were in middle income group, 25,3% of them were high school graduates, 37,7% of them preferred cesarean section, 62,3% of them preferred normal labor, 39,4% of them were the first pregnancies, 58,62% have previously had normal labor. It was found that there was a significant difference between birth preference of the pregnants and Preparation for labor Subscale, Fear of Labor Subscale and Mindful Awareness Scale (p<0,05). In the binary logistic regression model, it is determined that 65.2% of the variances in cesarean delivery preferences of the pregnant women were explained by the model. In the model, previous mode of delivery, longest living place and fear of labor took place. However, in this decision for primiparous, age of the pregnant, working status and fear of labor were found to be decisive (explanatory varience 40,2%). Conclusions: Preperation for labor, fear of labor and mindful awareness levels are effective in birth preferences of pregnant women, but fear of labor is the most fundamental determinant for both primiparous and all pregnancies. As a result of the research, mindful awareness-based prenatal training for fear of labor can be proposed as part of routine prenatal services. There is also a need for qualitative research to explain fear of labor. Key Words: Mindful awareness, Fear of labor, Mode of delivery, Preparation for labor
