Abstract (EN)

Determination of the Effect of Sociodemographic Characteristics of Pregnant Women on Ordinary Complaints and Quality of Life in Pregnancy Introduction and purpose: This study was conducted to determine the effect of sociodemographic characteristics of pregnant women on ordinary complaints and quality of life in pregnancy. Material and Method: The research was of a quantitative and descriptive type and the universe of the study comprised pregnant women who were admitted to Ağrı State Hospital Obstetrics and NST Polyclinics between March 1, 2018 and August 6, 2019. Priori power analysis was performed to determine the sample size, and the sample of the study consisted of 400 pregnant women who were admitted to outpatient clinics between the dates specified, who agreed to participate in the study and met the research criteria. The data were collected using the survey method with the "Personal Information Form" containing the socio-demographic characteristics of the pregnancies prepared by the researcher and the "Complaints During Pregnancy and Quality of Life Scale". Number, percentage, mean, and data were used to evaluate the data, and Mann–Whitney U analysis, Kruskal Wallis Variance analysis ( Mann–Whitney U test was used for further analysis), and Spearman Correlation Analysis were used to compare the two groups. Findings: The distribution of the scores obtained from Complaints During Pregnancy and Quality of Life Scale in pregnant women was found as 50.24±21.78 on average. The difference between the scores of the pregnant women participating in the study in Complaints During Pregnancy and Quality of Life Scale according to their type of health insurance, and the number of children alive were statistically significant (p<0.05). A statistically significant, positive and low-level relationship was found between gestational age and gestational week and the Complaints During Pregnancy and Quality of Life Scale score (p<0.05). As the week of age and gestational increases, the Complaints During Pregnancy and Quality of Life Scale score increase as well. Conclusion: It was determined that gestational age, gestational week, type of health insurance, number of children alive, which are sociodemographic characteristics, affected their complaints and quality of life during pregnancy. It is recommended that nurses and midwives should raise awareness of pregnant women about how sociodemographic characteristics affect the ordinary disorders in pregnancy and the risks that may adversely affect their quality of life.
