Development of sexual myhts scale in pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very different process that affects women's life from multiple aspects. Beside the many physical changes, various psychological changes emerge in this process. Sexuality and sexual desire are in fact among innate instincts. This motive is based on the desire of people to continue their bloodline. Sexual expression in pregnancy is highly personal. Sexual relationship is affected by emotional factors, myths about sex in pregnancy, sexual dysfunction, and physical changes in women. Review of the related literature indicates several studies on the identification of sexual life changes in pregnancy. However, studies on the identification of sexual myths are quite limited in number, and it was found that no scale on the issue has been developed so far. This study aims to develop "Sexual Myths Scale in Pregnancy". The study was carried out with 210 pregnant women in pregnant polyclinics of a university hospital. The resultant findings, for statistical analysis IBM SPSS Statistics 22 and SPSS AMOS 22 (IBM SPSS, Turkey) were evaluated using the programs. The Sexual Myths Scale in Pregnancy developed as a result of the study consisted of 25 items and 4 sub-dimensions as "pregnancy and sexuality", "concern about the baby", "gender/attraction" and "concern about pregnancy". The total Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of the scale was determined to be 0.916 and the subscales ranged from 0.717 to 0.913. As a result; The Sexual Myths Scale in Pregnancy was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool.
